It’s a simple picture that has a leading line which is the wood that leads you to him showing you what he is doing. The meaning of the picture that I get is a hard worker determined to finish his task. It seems like he is trying to make his way through the water.

I agree with you that a hard worker always finishes his task. But I also think this picture is about determination but your interpretation makes me have different takes to the picture.
